Hi Everyone!
Everyone has seen a vehicle along side the road, hood up with smoke rolling out from the engine compartment.
Ever wonder what happened?
Ever been in that situation?
Recently a vehicle rolled up to our front door with so much smoke coming out that we were sure it was on fire!
Everyone ran for the fire extinguishers.
By the time a tech reached the car the customer had raised the hood,
(Note this must be done very carefully as you can be burned if the fire flashes when all the Oxygen hits it!)
Fortunately no flash, no fire!
The smoke slowly cleared and after about ten minutes,
we were able to inspect the engine compartment to see what had happened.
So what do you think caused all the smoke?
OOPS! The Answer!
Simple!
It was the husbands fault!!!
We discovered that the oil cap was missing!
The husband had checked the oil just before the wife left on a trip down to Medford that morning
and somehow got sidetracked and forgot to put the cap back!
The wife in this case, drove all the way to Medford and back with the cap off and
the oil was splattered all over the engine compartment! She was lucky that it did not start a fire!
The engine also seems to have dodged a bullet, because it only had about a quart or so left!
After refilling the engine with oil it was quiet and ran fine.
We were asked not to clean up the oil mess, that someone else would take care of it!
I wonder who that would be? I only hope that there is no long term damage to the engine
or from the oil soaking everything!
As a note I was also informed we would check the oil the next time!
Hope you found this amusing and useful!
Have a great tommorrow!
